Hunter Education Requirement
Any person born on or after January 1, 1967 shall obtain and display an approved Hunter Education certificate card prior to purchase of any firearms hunting permit. Minimum age is 11 to be certified by the course, youth under 16 must provide birth certificate as proof of age. Youth under 16 may hunt under supervision of a Hunter Education Certified 18 year old or older mentor or age exept mentor, no minimum age for small game, minimum age of 6 for deer and turkey.

Hunter Orange Requirement
During firearm deer season, all hunters must wear a cap or hat, and a shirt, vest or coat having the outermost color be Hunter Orange and must be plainly visible from all sides while being worn. Camouflage orange garments do not meet this requirement. (Exception: Department of Conservation areas where deer hunting is restricted to archery methods.
