Find a Course

The International Hunter Education Association wants to make it easy for you to find courses. Each state and province has a different system for scheduling and advertising courses.

Here are some tools we offer to help you find courses:

North American Course Database

The course database allows you to search for various kinds of hunting courses by type and location. Some agencies manage their course listings through this database, but many have their own systems within their agencies. The course database will provide links to agency websites and course listings when available. This service was developed in cooperation with the National Shooting Sports Foundation and Pheasants Forever.

Online Hunter Education Courses

If All Else Fails

In some agencies individual instructors have the primary responsibility to schedule courses and advertise them. Watch for announcements in local papers, or on local radio stations. Call the local DNR agency officers or biologists and ask them. If you cannot locate an agency office, check with gun stores and sporting goods shops, or local conservation clubs. It is best to start looking for a course before the hunting seasons open. If you wait until the last minute, you may not be able to get into a course in time to hunt during the current season.
